Health benefits of Amla.

The nutritional values of amla or gooseberry are numerous. This fruit is suggested to be included as part of the daily diet. Amla or Indian Gooseberry is a rich natural source of Vitamin C and is used in various conditions like Diabetes, Anti-Aging, Skin Toner, Eye Disorders, Heart Disease, Rheumatism, and Respiratory Disorders.

Vitamin C present in Amla is an astonishing antioxidant with many health advantages. It is needed for adrenal gland function healthy gums and tissue repair and growth. It defends our bodies against the damaging effects of pollution as well as aids our bodies in the production of anti-stress hormones and interferon. Our body needs this vitamin for the metabolism of folic acid, phenylalanine and tyrosine.

Control sugar level: It is also very useful in controlling blood sugar level. Prepare a mixture of amla, jamun and bitter gourd powder (equal quantities). Take one teaspoonful of this mixture once or twice a day to make your diabetes under control.

Applying paste made up of dried Amla powder with Kumkum, Neelkamal and rose-water cures headache. Applying paste of Juice of 2 to 3 Amla or its pulp mixed with little rose water and 3 to 4 pieces of kesar (saffron) in it-on the affected part for 15 mts. relieves the pain of migraine.

The dried fruit is useful in hemorrhage, diarrhea and dysentery. It is antibacterial and its astringent properties prevent infection and help in the healing of ulcers. It is used as a laxative to relieve constipation in piles. It is used in the treatment of leucorrhea and artherosclerosis. Amla is also known as Indian Gooseberry. It has one of the richest concentrations of natural vitamin C of any edible plants on this planet.

The fruit is cooling, laxative and diuretic. It is one of the best known agents to retard aging. Amla, Emblica officinalis is a much revered fruit in Ayurveda for its anti-diabetic, antiseptic and anti-pyretic properties. It is an effective cerebral, heart and gastrointestinal tonic. Amla coincidently has anabolic effect and is helpful in increasing the body weight by way of its role in absorption of protein and balancing nitrogen in the body.
